Call for applications for the Union Community Advisory Panel

Apply before February 12 if you want to be part of the Union Community Advisory Panel. The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease is forming the Panel to improve community engagement within the organization.

The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) is forming a Community Advisory Panel (U-CAP) to improve community engagement within the organization.

A call is now out for volunteers to apply to be part of the U-CAP and help The Union fulfill its mandate and objectives.

Requirements:

• Be a member of local network and/or umbrella organization working on issues related to lung health [1], with a mandate to consult network or organizational constituencies. Applicants who are members of grassroots organizations or who have direct contact with affected communities will be prioritized. The U-CAP will require proof of membership or affiliation and request a letter of support from the network or organization.

• Have capacity to communicate and network effectively and broadly.

• Have/be a survivor of TB, living with asthma, working in tobacco control or with affected communities, or working in the field of lung health, including air quality. One member must be from a population affected by chronic pulmonary disease.

• Demonstrate knowledge about TB, asthma and/or tobacco control.

• Be available for both quarterly calls and email communications.

• Be committed to principles of transparency and accountability.

• Be conversant in English, as this is the working language of the U-CAP.

The U-CAP will work to achieve gender and geographical balance within the group.

The responsibilities of the role include:

• Participation in the quarter calls and regular email correspondence within an appropriate and reasonable length of time.

• Consultations with communities and communication of their priorities to the Union Board via established mechanisms.

• Engaging in conversations and debates, and providing meaningful feedback and in a respectful way.

• Declaring conflicts of interest when necessary.

To apply, send a letter explaining your motivation and how you will fulfill the requirements as stipulated above. Please also send two letters of support: one from the network you are member of and one from the organization you are working for. If you are not working in any organization, provide a letter from another advocate or activist supporting your nomination.
