People living with drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) and their medical care providers are calling on the international community to address the DR-TB crisis with better treatment and diagnosis, and adequate funding.

Here is the link for you to go and add your support for the DR-TB Manifesto that was written last year by Phumeza Tisile (former XDR-patient) and Dr Jenny Hughes (MSF Khayelitsha).

The aim is to get as many signatures as possible and present at World Health Assembly (19–24 May 2014) with Phumeza Tisile and Dr Jenny Hughes.

Today, fewer than 20% of those with DR-TB receive proper diagnosis and treatment. Today’s treatment is horrific – lengthy, toxic, complex and expensive – and cure rates are only 50%. Better diagnostics are rolling out, and new drugs are on the way, but massive political will is needed to seize the opportunity to radically transform DR-TB care. By raising our voices together we hope to make the DR-TB Manifesto demands a reality.
