100 Ukrainians condemned to death lined in front of the Cabinet of Ministers with their hands tied and bags on their heads
Dear journalists!
Terminally-ill Ukrainians, who were left with no chance to live, will line up on April, 17 in a live wall in front of the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. 100 people with their hands tied and with textile bags on their heads, condemned to death, will stand in front of their executioners, accompanied by drumbeat, as on the Medieval .
Action "The Condemned" will start on Wednesday, April, 17 at 9:30 am, when all the officers involved in the revision of the 2013 budget will be coming to their offices. The action will take place at the address: 12/2, Grushevskogo Street. A press briefing will take place at 10.00, where the following patients, condemned to death, will speak out:
- Patient with Hepatitis C
- Tuberculosis Patient
- HIV-positive Patient
Despite the fact that soon after the adoption of budget 2013 President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych issued the Order to review the budget and fund the full treatment of Ukrainians suffering from terminal diseases, money for treatment has not yet been allocated. The Cabinet of Ministers ignored a request from the Ministry of Health for funding for treatment. Upon recommendation of the Cabinet of Ministers, on March 27 the Budgeting Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for the amendments to the State Budget – 2013, but has not allocated money for treatment of 44,000 Ukrainians who will die this year because of lack of medicine.
That is why patients come to the Cabinet of Ministers to request the allocation of money for treatment. Otherwise, patients will demonstrate his executioners, that they have condemned 44,000 Ukrainians.
Note, for all Ukrainians living with diseases, and who badly need treatment from hepatitis C, TB or HIV – come to defend your legal right for treatment! Silence is death.
