Live webcast panel discussion with TB experts to review findings from a new Economist Intelligence Unit report

Monday June 30th 12.30 BST

On Monday, 30 June, 2014, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) will launch a report: Ancient enemy, modern imperative: A time for greater action against tuberculosis (TB) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.

The report outlines that to achieve further essential progress against TB, new strategies are required that will address current weaknesses while not throwing away gains to date. These include:

  • Finding and treating people where they live
  • Taking TB control out of existing silos
  • Harnessing cost-effective technology
  • Raising the profile of TB

The event will be hosted by Janssen with both Janssen and EIU representatives in attendance and will follow the format of a presentation led event followed by an interactive Q&A discussion.

As noted in the report, as the Western European city with the highest burden of TB, the location of London will underscore TB as an urgent global health issue - not just a “developing world” one. The panellists will comprise of experts in TB from industry, clinical practice, policy, media and advocacy groups.
