Aeras global campaign: #TBunmasked
Today we launch #TBunmasked, a global campaign to support the 50 million healthcare workers on the front lines of the global TB epidemic.
Why this campaign? And why now?
Because some healthcare workers are as much as 3x
more likely to contract TB than the average person. Nearly 80%
of TB cases among healthcare workers are attributed to
occupational exposure. Each day, these heroes put their lives on
the line to treat TB patients, and they deserve protection from
the very disease they are fighting.
Our first goal
is to empower members of the healthcare community by giving them
a platform to be heard. We also aim to help inform healthcare
workers on how to take meaningful and simple steps to protect
themselves from the risk of TB. And we’ll continue to
focus on long-term solutions like TB vaccine
development—the ultimate solution for healthcare workers
and the world.
