Tuberculosis testing market estimated to expand by 2020
Experts from Transparency Market Research have recently estimated that the worldwide tuberculosis (TB) testing market will reach $2,619.4 million (USD) by the year 2020.
The report, which is titled “Tuberculosis Testing Market
– Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends
and Forecast 2014-2020,” shows that the worldwide
tuberculosis testing market will continue to radically expand
during the next few years.
According to data from the
World Health Organization (WHO), there were nine million TB
cases in 2013. As of today, TB is the second leading cause of
death throughout the world. It is exceeded only by human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in death rates.
TB has
developed drug-resistant and potent strains that are
increasingly difficult to treat. These strains are part of the
reason that healthcare organizations are pushing for further
treatments and diagnostic methods to stop the spread of TB.
The
growing tuberculosis testing market is expanding thanks to
better healthcare infrastructure, growing awareness of TB and
the rising number of reported TB cases.
There have
also been increased involvement from organizations like
Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) and the WHO.
These organizations have been working towards creating new tests
for TB, which would also increase the tuberculosis testing
market. Unfortunately, the high cost of TB testing procedures
and specialty equipment may inhibit the market’s growth.
