Updates on important WHO events

The World Health Organization (WHO) provided updates on several important events hosted by the organization and its partners in June 2024 in Dhaka, Bangladesh: first Global Forum on Advancing Multisectoral and Multistakeholder Engagement and Accountability to End TB (23-24 June); #Youth2EndTB Townhall (23 June); annual meeting of the Stop TB Working Group on Public-Private Mix (PPM) for TB prevention and care (25-26 June); consultation on enhanced TB-PPM data dashboards with seven PPM priority countries (27 June). The WHO policy brief: "Public-Private Mix Data Dashboards for Enhanced Action and Accountability to End TB" was launched and disseminated at the consultation.

New biomarker identified for predicting adverse events of TB therapy

Borstel researchers are the first to develop a biomarker to predict the occurrence of neuropathic adverse events during therapy for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The results have now been published in the journal Pathogens & Immunity.

The National Health Service (NHS) in England released Clinical commissioning policy statement, and accompanying documents, for the treatment for defined patients with rifampicin-resistant TB, multidrug-resistant TB, pre-extensively drug-resistant TB and extensively drug-resistant TB including bedaquiline and delamanid (all ages).
