This week donors are meeting in Geneva to discuss the Global Fund's progress in fighting the three killer diseases: AIDS, TB and malaria. This is obviously a critical meeting for the Fund that has proven to save millions of lives already. Looking at the future, one thing is clear: we need sufficient funds and we need to spend them right. This week I've been sharing some exciting thoughts from leaders in the fight against the three diseases. Since 1971, Davos has been the playground of the rich and powerful, a small Swiss resort that once a year hosts a glittering party for hypertrophied egos and atrophied minds. But in the 1920s Davos was the luxurious destination for a different category of the wealthy – those suffering from tuberculosis. I wonder if Klaus Schwab chose Davos for gatherings of his World Economic Forum with a deliberately ironic eye: a place where those who come to pay homage to their global self-importance dance unknowingly on the graves of their prematurely deceased forebears.

The summary report on multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) services was released during the ongoing Lung Week (12-17 November) and the 43rd Union World Conference on Lung Health in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Citizen News Service – CNS, a partner of the Stop TB Partnership, along with other partners such as National Partnership for TB Care and Control in India, Rural Youth Advocate for Health and Development in Nigeria, National Council of People Living with HIV in India (NCPI+), International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) India, Global Health Advocates (GHA), Sneha Foundation Varanasi, Asha Parivar, Vote For Health campaign, National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM) and the Global Stop-TB eForum had hosted the online consultation and key informant interviews on issues related to multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
