ICOH calls for a strong global effort to promote occupational safety and health strategies to prevent TB in high-risk worker populations (post)

The International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) recently put out two statements advocating for work place interventions to prevent TB among health workers and silica exposed workers (e.g. construction and mining). ICOH is also hoping to have these opportunities to prevent TB highlighted in the final declaration of the UN High-Level Meeting on TB in September.

There is a concerted effort to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from the world. The shift in the global threat perception of the disease was evident at the first ever Global Ministerial Conference on ending TB in Moscow late last year. There, 120 nations adopted the Moscow Declaration, which included commitments on universalizing access to TB care, ensuring adequate financing of TB programmes, investing in research and development (R&D) and building mechanisms to review progress.

20 August 2018 | GENEVA - Stop TB Partnership launched today a new online and interactive platform as part of the Strategic Initiative to Find the Missing People with Tuberculosis (TB). The platform is available at http://stoptb-strategicinitiative.org/. The new interactive platform is part of joint efforts among Stop TB Partnership, The Global Fund to Fight, AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and the World Health Organization (WHO) to improve TB case detection, notification and treatment. It is designed to display new information and learnings, experiences and best practices that implementers and partners acquire as they boost their efforts.
