Vietnam is the first country in the world to routinely use an innovative method to diagnose tuberculosis (TB) using stool. The Simple One-Step Stool Method, developed by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, is implemented in 10 healthcare facilities across the country. ,,This simple and painless test is an important development for diagnosing TB in children under the age of five and people living with HIV. Survey on preferences for skin-based tests for TB (post)
The University of Auckland, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the University College London, are conducting a short 10-minute survey on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO), on user preferences of TB skin testing to inform the upcoming WHO TB testing guidelines. All people who wish to contribute are invited to complete the survey - you do not have to have experience of a skin test yourself. Of particular interest are the views of people with TB, health providers and others involved in TB care such as lab technicians and TB program managers.

03 December 2021 | Geneva: Following review of the evidence and advice from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Tuberculosis (TB) Diagnostics and Laboratory Strengthening, the World Health Organization (WHO) concludes that the Xpert MTB/RIF and Ultra cartridge performance on the GeneXpert 10-colour instrument was found to be comparable to that of the GeneXpert 6-colour instrument for detection of TB and rifampicin resistance. The current WHO recommendations for Xpert MTB/RIF and Ultra cartridge use on GeneXpert 6-colour instruments are also valid for their use on GeneXpert 10-colour instruments.
