Final results demonstrated nine-month treatment had 82% success rate, compared with previous standard that required more than 20 months of treatment and achieved cure rates below 55%.

Paris, France, Tuesday, 11 October 2016 – The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) today announced that the final results of a landmark  study on a shortened drug treatment regimen for patients living  with Multidrug–Resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) will be released at the 47^th World Conference on Lung Health, convening 26-29 October 2016 at  The Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

The Union Zimbabwe office has been involved in conducting a survey measuring knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) on TB in communities across the country. The results point to an overwhelming need to increase awareness and understanding of the disease.

Leading veterinary experts and authorities from global public health, animal health and agriculture organisations have published the first-ever call to action against animal- and food-borne TB in humans.

The Union has published the third edition of Desk Guide for Diagnosis and Management of TB in Children.

Public Health Action is the free access, online journal of The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. The journal focuses on tuberculosis, lung health, non-communicable diseases and related public health issues.
