Human rights violations continue to be a barrier to accessing TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment services for many marginalized groups such as prisoners, miners and immigrants. The Stop TB Partnership collaborated with UNDP to develop the Guide, which will help civil society and government to address legal and policy barriers and opportunities to increase access to TB health services.

31 August - Geneva, Switzerland - The Stop TB Partnership is pleased to announce the establishment of REDTBLAC, (Red de Personas Afectadas por Tuberculosis en Latino América y El Caribe), a newly formed activist network of people affected by TB from the Latin American and Caribbean region. The formation of the network is the result of the TB advocacy meeting co-organized by Stop TB Partnership, Global Coalition of TB Activists (GCTA) and Socios en Salud, with the support of USAID and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. Bringing 30 people together from 11 countries (Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, and Venezuela) in the region, it took place from 16-18 August in Lima, Peru. This is part of the global effort started in 2015 and led by Stop TB Partnership with partners of ensuring at an unprecedented level the creation and support of national, regional and global networks of activists among people affected by TB.

11 August 2017 - As we embark on the road to the United Nations High Level Meeting (UNHLM) on TB, the Stop TB Partnership, in collaboration with APCASO and Treatment Action Group (TAG), hosted a global meeting from 29-30 July, where more than 60 community and civil society advocates from 32 countries strategized on advocacy priorities promoting community-led, people-centered, rights-based and gender transformative approaches to end TB.

24 July 2017, Geneva, Switzerland - The Stop TB Partnership congratulates the Pakistan Ministry of Health, National TB Programme, Provincial TB Programmes, and partners for demonstrating how to deliver higher standards of TB care in high TB burden settings in order to rapidly reduce suffering and TB deaths.

The Stop TB Partnership launches a new vulnerable and underserved populations brief focused on Indigenous Peoples.

The Stop TB Partnership, the Global Coalition of TB Activists (GCTA) and Partners in Health will convene the first Latin American capacity-building workshop for TB survivors on 16-18 August 2017 in Lima, Peru.
