The Stop TB Partnership released the first edition of the newsletter on the progress and results achieved in the priority countries of the Global Fund’s Strategic Initiative to Find the Missing People with TB. Together with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Stop TB Partnership is an implementing partner of this Strategic Initiative through which 13 countries are supported to achieve the ambitious joint goal of finding an additional 1.5 million people with TB by the end of 2019.

The UN High-Level Meeting (UN HLM) Political Declaration on TB contains a number of global targets endorsed by Heads of State, including targets to successfully diagnose and treat 40 million people with TB by 2022, including 3.5 million children with TB, and 1.5 million people with drug-resistant TB.

Both reports are focused on addressing pressing legal and human rights issues in the context of TB, namely coercion and criminalization, and migration.

Ahead of the UN High-Level Meeting on TB, global health and business leaders convened at the TB Innovation Summit on 25 September and pledged major commitments to end the world’s deadliest infectious disease. The Summit was co-hosted by the Stop TB Partnership, Johnson & Johnson, World Economic Forum, UN Foundation, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria.
