Balti joins Zero TB Cities Initiative

On June 29th, 2017, in Balti, Moldova, the Vice Mayor of Balti Igor Sheremet and Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership Dr. Lucica Ditiu signed the ‘Declaration of Interest: Alignment with the Zero TB Initiative’. Balti becomes the second city in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia joining the initiative after Odesa joined it on May 30th, 2017.

Ukrainian officials meet international TB organizations

On 31 May 2017, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine hosted a meeting with the participation of international guests – Baroness Alison Suttie, Life Peer in the UK House of Lords, Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director of the STOP TB Partnership, Colleen Daniels, Human Rights, Gender and TB/HIV Advisor. Ukrainian stakeholders were represented by the Deputy Minister of Health Oxana Syvak, Head of the National Center for Public Health Nataliya Nizova, and Andrey Klepikov, Executive Director of the Alliance of Public Health with the Alliance’s TB team on board. The WHO was represented by Head of Country Office to Ukraine Dr. Marthe Everard.

Odesa joins Zero TB Cities Initiative

On May 30th, 2017, in Odesa, Ukraine, the Mayor of Odesa Gennadiy Trukhanov signed the ‘Declaration of Interest to Alignment of Odesa city with the Zero TB Initiative’ with Stop TB Partnership. This makes Odesa the first city in Ukraine and entire region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia joining the initiative.

Voices of TB patients heard in Tajikistan

The first ever poll of TB patients and their families was conducted in Tajikistan. The goal was to learn about their attitude to outpatient treatment and develop recommendations concerning implementation of the new model of TB care in the country.

WHO European TB Advisory Group meeting in Copenhagen

The 11th meeting of the WHO European Advisory Group on Tuberculosis Control (TAG-TB) took place on 13 and 14th February in Copenhagen, Denmark. The meeting was chaired by Professor Alberto Matteelli, and widely attended by WHO officers from countries, academia, civil society members and community representatives.

TB Europe Coalition launches Eastern European and Central Asian network of people with experience of TB

20 June 2016 – Bratislava, Slovakia – The TB Europe Coalition, in collaboration with and with support from the Stop TB Partnership launched TBpeople, the Eastern European and Central Asian network of people with experience of TB. The new network aims to put people affected by tuberculosis (TB) at the heart of decision-making in the fight against TB across Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA).
